Fire Ant Control Englewood, Florida
The key to fire ant control in Englewood, Florida, and other communities in Charlotte and Sarasota counties, is to take advantage of the proven treatment solution from Fire Ant Control, LLC.
Red imported fire ants (Solenopsis invicta) were accidentally brought into the port of Mobile, Alabama, from Brazil in about 1930. They are the worst of all fire ant species because they mate often, reproduce rapidly, are more aggressive, and have an extremely painful venomous sting that can be serious or even lethal.
Fire Ant Control, LLC, headquartered in Bokeelia, Florida, along with our sister companies, serves the entire imported fire ant quarantine area of the southeastern U.S., and are capable of treating up to 1,000 acres per day.
About Fire Ants
Fire ants build nests outdoors in mounds of soil and live underneath them in an elaborate network of subterranean tunnels where they reproduce rapidly. Even when you don’t see them, they are expanding right under your feet, and thousands of them can live in a single colony.
Colonies consist of workers and queens. Workers build the nests (mounds), take care of the queen and her eggs, scavenge for food, and defend the colony. Queens can live for two to six years and lay from 1,500 to 5,000 eggs per day, which explains why fire ants multiply so quickly.
These destructive and dangerous ants adore moist land, so Englewood is right up their alley. Favorite nesting grounds include open, sunny areas, and their mounds are commonly found around stumps and trees, in rotting logs and under sidewalks, as well as in lawns, parks, playgrounds, golf courses, athletic fields, meadows, pastures, and cultivated fields.
Fire ants also pose a serious public health threat, injuring more than 20 million adults and children each year with their stings. Their stings can produce a broad range of reactions from mild localized pain and swelling to severe and deadly anaphylactic shock.
Kill Fire Ants from the Inside Out
To eliminate a fire ant colony, the queen must be killed. In multi-queen colonies, all queens must be killed. If the queens are not killed, the colony will most likely establish itself in another nearby area.
Fire Ant Control, LLC’s proven fire ant treatment focuses on sterilizing the queen. Extermination is not instantaneous but, once the worker ants have eaten the potent granular bait and carried it down into the colony, sterilizing the queen, the entire colony will disappear, and no new ants will be born.
Your property will be nearly free of fire ants within weeks; however, because fire ants fly to mate, they may return. For this reason, we recommend having your property treated three times a year to prevent them from re-colonizing your property.
