Fire Ants & Their Mounds
Red Imported Fire Ants, or Solenopsis invicta, gained entry to North America through cargo ships in the port of Mobile, Alabama in the late 1930s.
They build nests outdoors in mounds of soil and live beneath them in elaborate networks of tunnels that stretch as far as 25 feet. These colonies consist of workers and queens. Workers build the nests (mounds), take care of the queen and her eggs, scavenge for food, and defend the colony.
When disturbed, the ants will aggressively rise up from under the mound and bite or sting humans and animals standing nearby, injecting a venom known as Solenopsin into their victims. Their stings can produce a broad range of reactions, from mild localized pain and swelling to severe and deadly anaphylactic shock.
When your pasture is inhabited by single queen colonies, you may be dealing with 40 to 150 mounds and about 7 million fire ants per acre. If they are multiple queen colonies, however, you can expect 200 or more mounds and up to 40 million fire ants per acre!
Be Proactive
Fire Ant Control, LLC provides a proven service that works for pastures and other properties ranging from a single acre to thousands of acres. We provide exact application rates with a minimum of interference to your daily operation.
The food-like granular bait we use contains an insect growth regulator that sterilizes the queen and is approved for use around people, pets and livestock. With our precise application rates, the bait falls to the ground where few living things other than ants will encounter it.
The potent bait is ingested by the worker ants and carried down into the colony, causing the fire ants to die naturally. It is superior to sprays and insecticides that are short-lived (only killing surface ants), sometimes dangerous, and very expensive.
Extermination is not instantaneous but, once the queen has been sterilized, the entire colony will disappear, and no new ants will be born. Within weeks, your property will be protected and, with an application every four months, our treatment will help prevent further fire ant colonization.
We guarantee that our fully licensed and insured service will help rid 85-95% of the fire ants from your property for four months at a time, or your money back.
