INQUIRE

ASSURANCE FIRE ANT BAIT is a granular bait labelled to be applied to the following areas: residential turf and landscapes (around flowers, shrubs, and trees), golf courses, commercial nurseries including field grown and container stock, sod farms, parks, zoos, airports, roadsides, cemeteries, sport fields, school grounds, perimeter areas of buildings, homes, sheds, kennels, barns, poultry houses, swine operations, dairies, electrical and phone boxes, pump houses and other associated areas, pastures, rangeland, citrus groves, cropland, forestry sites.

The product targets the ants where they live and breed.

ASSURANCE FIRE ANT BAIT contains the insect growth regulator (IGR) S-Methoprene with specific activity to fire ants. The IGR is contained in an attractant bait that foraging fire ant workers take back to the mound to feed to the queen. IGR’s work by affecting queen reproduction. When existing workers die, replacement workers are not produced resulting in starvation and elimination of the queen and colony. The effects of the treatment may not be immediately evident. IGR’s are slower in activity than conventional products. Though slower in action, control is complete without the concern of rebounding or movement of the colony to another location. Reduction in colony size can be seen beginning at three weeks with colony elimination within 8 to 10 weeks.

Individual Mound Treatments for Fire Ants

Apply 3 to 5 tablespoons of ASSURANCE FIRE ANT BAIT to each visible fire ant mound. Distribute the bait evenly around the mound, covering an area with a 4-foot perimeter. Avoid disturbing the mound during application. Worker ants will quickly find the bait and carry it back to the colony.

Broadcast Applications for Fire Ants

Apply ASSURANCE FIRE ANT BAIT as a broadcast treatment at a rate of 1 to 1.5 pounds per acre (approximately 3.5 tablespoons per 1,000 square feet) using appropriate application equipment. You may use backpack, hand-held, or motorized mechanical equipment. Aerial applications can also be conducted with either rotary or fixed-wing aircraft. There are no restrictions on withdrawal or grazing in treated areas.

Preventative Broadcast Applications
