Fire Ant Control & Treatment in Tampa, FL

Tampa, FL is known for its beautiful Gulf Coast beaches, world class theme parks, major professional sports teams, and hot, humid weather. Fire ants are happy here, too, thanks to all the sunshine, warmth, humidity, and water! Get rid of them with treatment from Fire Ant Control, LLC.

Fire Ant Control, LLC is the best fire ant killer around! Precise application of our powerful, food-like granular bait kills fire ant colonies from the inside out and is approved for use around people, pets, livestock, and on farmland, pastures, and hay fields.

Fire Ant Control & Treatment in Tampa, FLWorker ants ingest the bait and carry it down into the colony, causing the ants within the colony to die naturally.  It is superior to insecticides and sprays that are short-lived (only killing surface ants), sometimes dangerous, and very expensive.

Of course, extermination is not immediate but, once the queen has been sterilized, the entire colony will disappear, and new ants will not be born.

At Fire Ant Control, LLC, we guarantee that our treatment will rid 85%-95% of the fire ants from your residential, commercial or agricultural property for four months at a time, or your money back.

Because these ants fly, you can expect them to arrive now and then from your neighbor’s property. They also fly away from the colony to mate and will eventually come back. Consequently, to prevent further fire ant colonization, we recommend treatment three times a year.

Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Fire Ants (But Were Afraid to Ask)

Here are some interesting facts about fire ants – how they mate, how they get around, where they live, and how long they live:

  • Male and female fire ants mate while in flight – 300 to 800 feet in the air. Soon after mating, the male dies and the female (a new queen) drops to the ground, sheds her wings, and searches for an appropriate place to start her colony.
  • A typical colony consists of the queen and worker ants. Workers build the nests (mounds), take care of the queen and her eggs, scavenge for food, and defend the colony.
  • Areas with single queen colonies may have 40 to 150 mounds and about 7 million red fire ants per acre. If infested with multiple queen colonies, there may be 200 or more mounds and up to 40 million red fire ants per acre.
  • The oval-shaped mounds/nests average 10” tall, are about as wide as a dinner plate, have no visible openings, and may extend up to 25 feet away from the main nest.
  • Adult worker ants forage outside the mound/nest looking for food to care for their queen as she becomes an egg-laying machine. If well-fed, she may lay up to 1,500 eggs per day.
  • Worker ants typically live from 30 to 180 days after emerging as adults. Queens can live from two to seven years.
